Application Protection: A New Approach

Prevoty's Julien Bellanger on App Security Advances
Application Protection: A New Approach

How can businesses ensure that the content coming into an application is executed safely, and that the application itself isn't under attack? That's the problem being targeted by Prevoty, which builds what market researcher Gartner has dubbed "run-time application self-protection," says Julien Bellanger, the company's CEO.

Prevoty creates a language-agnostic application security platform that can differentiate between good and bad content. The platform uses a security engine that can run on-premises, on a cloud server, or, in the near future, via a plug-in that goes into the application itself.

In an interview at the RSA Conference 2015, Bellanger also describes:

  • The three ways that Prevoty can secure applications;
  • The nuances of taking a language-security approach, not a pattern-matching approach;
  • Feeding back application-level threat data and intelligence to Splunk, AlienVault's Open Threat Exchange, or some other mechanism designed to consume such data.

Before launching Prevoty, Bellanger served as general manager of Latin America for retail media network Thomson Technicolor PRN, as well as founding TaPlanet.com, which was one of the first Internet websites in France designed for students.
