"When we talk about hacking gamification in general, organizations often have the misconception about employees taking time away from their work, or employees doing something that is not adding value back to the business," he said. "We need to focus on training employees and reducing the time it takes from getting new talent into the business and getting them up to speed in the technology that the business uses. We have to find ways for people to reskill quickly."

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2023, Carson discusses:

  • How gamification can help improve incident response;
  • Using gamification to help improve cybersecurity skills;
  • How his passion for gaming as a youth led to his career in IT and cybersecurity.

Carson, who has more than 25 years of experience in enterprise security, is an ethical hacker and author of "Privileged Account Management for Dummies" and "Cybersecurity for Dummies." Carson is a cybersecurity adviser to several governments as well as critical infrastructure, financial and transportation companies and has presented at conferences globally.
